General FAQs

The Square Living Hub is partnered with purpose built student accommodation close to universities with plenty of onsite amenities. Take your pick from shared and private rooms, studios, and apartments. We also offer short-term stays for students in summer school and exchange programs.

The major room types are:

Sharing: This is where two or more students share a single room, bathroom, kitchen, and other communal spaces.

En-suite/Private: This includes a private bedroom and bathroom, while the kitchen and living areas are shared amongst the residents.

Studios: This is a self-contained unit with a bedroom and kitchen along with a private bathroom. Two students may book a single studio together, subject to the policies of the accommodation provider.

Fully furnished apartments: The Square Living Hub also has fully furnished one - two bedroom apartments that you can book as a student or young professional.

Yes. We are primarily a student accommodation platform, but you can always select a Coliving Accommodation of your choice .

Most accommodations only allow you to book if you are the age of 18 or are about to turn 18 during the academic year booked.

All properties listed by The Squa.re are personally verified by the team or our representatives. Each accommodation has various safety measures in place, including CCTV, secure door entry, restricted access, and more.

Most accommodations come equipped with a fully functional kitchen. Some accommodations provide grab and go breakfast while most are self catered. You can always ask the reception for restaurants that deliver.

Coin-operated washing machines are present at every building.It is your responsibility to clean both your room and the shared areas of your flat. Common areas are looked after by maintenance staff at regular intervals. You can also contact the reception for professional cleaning services at an extra fee.

Yes, all our accommodations have strong internet connectivity, whether you are in the common room, study area or your bedroom, you are always connected.

Some properties have parking available which students can reserve on a first come first serve basis. The cost of the parking space is dependent on the property. Bike storage is usually available at the building.

Students would need to bring their own bedding, kitchen utensils, cutlery, and bathroom essentials. You can order bedding and kitchen packs online before you check in.

Occasional guests are allowed to stay overnight but you will need to inform the reception and check with your flatmates if they are comfortable with the extra guest.

The properties have an onsite maintenance team that you can report the issues to. Most properties also have a resident’s app that you can use to raise complaints.

You still have to pay rent for the duration of your contract even if you are away on holiday.

Subletting your room is not allowed. You can contact the property manager to find a replacement tenant in case you need to move out. You are liable to pay the rent until a new tenant takes over your contract.

All the accommodations are smoking-free zones. You can step outside to the designated smoking areas . Alcohol is not allowed in the premises.

Pets are not allowed as per the policies set by our accommodation providers.

TVs are installed in the communal areas and in some of the studios. You will need to purchase the TV licence.

The security deposit will be deducted or forfeited in case of extensive damage.

The accommodation is mostly for students but you could check with the property manager to extend your stay for the summer while looking for a different accommodation.

Booking

Virtual viewings of the property can be arranged for you or your friends/family . We can also schedule in person tours of the property.

Group bookings of any size are welcome. You can book a flat and select your rooms. Just let us know the name and email address of each member of your group.

Availability

You can cancel free of cost and request a refund of the deposit amount if you can provide proof that your visa has been rejected or you have not secured your spot at the University within the first 72 hours.

You can use a debit/credit card or make an online transfer. Most properties allow an instalment plan if you have a guarantor.

A guarantor (usually a parent or guardian) takes joint financial responsibility for your tenancy and is liable to pay your rent if you are, for any reason, unable to pay an amount owed to the property.

A UK based guarantor is required in some properties to pay in instalments. There are a few properties that will allow you to get an instalment plan with an international guarantor . In case you do not have a UK based guarantor and would still like to pay in instalments, you could avail the services of a 3rd party guarantor.

All properties include utilities (gas, electricity, and water and Wi-Fi) in the rental prices. Students will have to pay a deposit amount in order to secure their booking. This amount is either adjusted against the rent or refunded at the end of the tenancy if there are no damages to your room when you vacate.

Full time students do not need to pay council tax. If you leave university during your Tenancy Agreement period you may then need to pay council tax.

Cancellation

It is possible to cancel a booking if it is done within the cooling off period. Cancellation policy is different for each property, it will be stated in the rental agreement. Deposit / advance rent will be refunded if booking is cancelled within the cooling off period.

It is the agreed upon time during which you can cancel your booking and get a refund of the deposit/advance rent.

Most accommodations offer a fixed tenancy period, but it is possible to check in early.
